Enter your average order value and the costs of taking that order through a delivery platform versus delivering it yourself. The tool shows the true net revenue from each channel and the annual impact of your order mix.
📱 Delivery Platform
🚗 In-House Delivery
Delivery platform commission (typically 20–35%) covers the platform's marketing, app infrastructure, driver network and payment processing. It's steep, but for many venues the order volume and new-customer reach the platform brings outweighs the margin cost — particularly for venues without an existing delivery customer base.
In-house delivery keeps significantly more revenue per order but requires you to manage drivers, insurance, vehicle costs and delivery zone logistics yourself — real operational overhead that this calculator's driver cost figure only partially captures.
Many operators run both — using platforms for volume and new-customer acquisition while directing repeat customers to order directly (via phone or their own website/app) for in-house delivery at a better margin. Loyalty schemes and exclusive direct-order discounts help shift volume this way over time.
Some operators price menu items higher on delivery platforms than in-house to offset commission — a legitimate strategy provided pricing is transparent and doesn't damage trust if customers compare prices across channels.
