Enter your daily room counts by clean type and the time each takes, plus your housekeeper hourly rate and shift length. The tool calculates your total daily housekeeping cost, cost per occupied room, and how many housekeepers you need to cover the workload.
| Clean Type | No. of Rooms | Minutes per Clean | Total Minutes | Cost |
|---|
A departure clean (full turnover including bed linen change, bathroom deep clean, restocking) typically takes 30–45 minutes depending on room size and standard. A stay-over clean (refresh, towels, tidying) typically takes 12–20 minutes. Always benchmark against your own actual times rather than assuming industry averages apply directly.
Productive cleaning hours are lower than paid shift hours once breaks, trolley restocking, travel between rooms/floors and handover time are accounted for. A typical productive rate is 70–85% of paid hours — use this to set a realistic "Productive Hours per Shift" figure rather than the full shift length.
Utilisation consistently below 80% suggests you may be over-resourced for the day's workload; consistently at or above 100% suggests rooms may not be getting cleaned to standard within the time available, or overtime is being relied upon.
Where possible, stagger checkout times or offer early check-in incentives to spread the departure clean workload more evenly across the day rather than concentrating it all in a single late-morning peak.
