Ingredients

  • 4 Bramley or cooking apples, about 700g, peeled, cored and sliced
  • 2 tbsp caster sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 100g plain flour
  • 50g porridge oats
  • 60g cold butter, cubed
  • 50g soft light brown sugar
  • custard or vanilla ice cream, to serve

Method

  1. Toss the apples with the caster sugar, cinnamon and lemon juice and tip into a 18cm heatproof dish that fits in your air fryer.

  2. Rub the flour and butter together in a bowl with your fingertips until it looks like breadcrumbs.

  3. Stir in the oats and brown sugar.

  4. Scatter the crumble over the apples without pressing down.

  5. Preheat the air fryer to 170°C and cook the crumble for 22 to 25 minutes, until the topping is golden and the apples are bubbling and tender. Cover with foil for the last 5 minutes if it browns too fast.

  6. Leave to cool for 5 minutes, then serve with custard or ice cream.
