Homemade Beef Burgers
Juicy beef burgers made from simple ingredients, air fried until browned and served in soft buns with cheese.
Ingredients
- 500g beef mince (at least 15% fat)
- 1 small onion, finely grated
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 4 burger buns
- 4 slices Cheddar cheese
- 1 tomato, sliced
- 4 lettuce leaves
- tomato ketchup, to serve
Method
-
Mix the mince, onion, egg yolk, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper in a bowl, handling it as little as possible.
-
Divide into 4 equal portions and shape into patties about 2cm thick, pressing a shallow dimple into the centre of each.
-
Preheat the air fryer to 190°C.
-
Cook the burgers in a single layer, in two batches if needed, for 10 to 12 minutes, turning halfway, until browned and cooked through with no pink meat. The centre should reach 75°C if you have a probe.
-
Lay a slice of cheese on each burger for the final minute of cooking so that it melts.
-
Toast the buns cut side up in the air fryer for 1 to 2 minutes.
-
Assemble with lettuce, tomato, the burgers and ketchup.
